PWS: Wildlife Adventure Safari-14 days (13 nights)

 

Focusing on: Murchison Falls, Kibale, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi & Lake Mburo National Parks

 

Day1. Arrive Entebbe, Uganda
Upon arrival at Entebbe, you will be met at the airport by our company representative who will then transfer you to the Windsor Lake Victoria Hotel, a charming, colonial style hotel with beautiful gardens and a swimming pool. This afternoon is free for you to relax at the hotel. If time allows, you may visit Uganda Wildlife Education Centre/Botanical Gardens. Overnight The Windsor Lake Victoria Hotel.

Day 2. Murchison Falls National Park
Drive to Murchison Falls National Park Via Masindi/Hoima with a lunch stop over en route. Proceed to the park through via Biso, Budongo forest with stop over at the escapement to view the beautiful landscape of the entire park and the Albert flats. Overnight Nile Safari Camp/Paraa safari Lodge/Sambiya River Lodge.

 

Day 3. Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, drive to Paraa where we take a ferry across the Nile to the Northern sector of the park for game drives. Most of the game is to be found in the area north of Victoria Nile and East of the Albert Nile and lake Albert (where the movie “Nile Queen” was filmed).The likely game to be encountered during our drive are Elephants, Buffalos, Rothschild giraffe, Oribi, waterbuck, hartebeest, bushbuck, leopard, lion, bush pigs, mongoose, warthog, jackal, genet, hyenas, bat eared fox, sitatunga and Uganda Kob. Overnight Nile Safari Camp/Paraa safari Lodge/Sambiya River Lodge.

 

Day 4. Murchison Falls National Park
On this day we drive to paraa and take a launch boat to the base of the falls viewing game and birds en route. We enjoy the 3 hour ride past several hippo schools and Nile crocodile plus aquatic bird including a chance a good chance to see a Shoebill stock. Then drive to top of The Falls with your picnic lunch. After lunch walk in the area to obtain excellent views of the Falls where the Nile is forced through a 20-foot wide gap and then drops 145ft over the escarpment. This is believed to be the largest natural force of water in the world creating a sight of a boiling Caldron of water. Overnight Nile Safari Camp/Paraa safari Lodge/Sambiya River Lodge.

 

Day 5. Murchison Falls National Park / Kibale Forest
After breakfast, drive to Kibale Forest area via Biso, Hoima, Kyenjojo to Fort Portal with a lunch stop over en route. The approximately 8 hour drive will take you along the western arm of The Great African Rift Valley passing through beautiful agricultural country side, tropical rain forests and tea plantations. Overnight Ndali Lodge/Primate Lodge.

 

Day 6. Kibale Forest
After breakfast, proceed for Chimpanzee tracking. The exciting activity begins in the morning and may take a whole day or a few hours. Briefing is done by the local park guides. Besides close cousins, the chimpanzees, there are other primates likely to be encountered. These include: red colobus, L’hoesti, black-and-white colobus, red tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabey and other primate species. The swamp walk at Bigodi wetland is an optional activity in the afternoon. Overnight Ndali Lodge/Primate Lodge.

 

Day 7. Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, check out and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive passes though Fort Portal southwards along the Eastern length of the Rwenzori Mountains. On a clear day you may see the glaciated peaks as you gently descend to the Great Rift Valley to the park. The Rwenzori Peaks provide a magnificent backdrop to antelope-filled plains. Queen Elizabeth National Park, covers about 2,000 square kilometers and spreads along the eastern shore of Lake Edward. Overnight Mweya Safari Lodge / Jacana Safari Lodge / Hippo Hill Camp.

 

Days 8. Queen Elizabeth National Park
This morning we will enjoy a game drive in the park. This may include a drive to the magnificent plains of Kasenyi, crater lakes valleys, and the channel drive. Here we may spot early risers as they return to their dens from morning hunt such as lion, leopard. Herds of Uganda kob, bushbuck, waterbuck, reedbuck, African elephants and buffalos are more of the likely game. The afternoon activities will include the exciting launch trip on the Kazinga Channel, which is a home to countless hippos, as well as baboons and abundant bird life.Overnight Mweya Safari Lodge / Jacana Safari Lodge / Hippo Hill Camp.

 

Day 9. Queen Elizabeth Park/Bwindi
After breakfast we drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.Enroute we drive to Maramagambo Forest for a nature walk. Here, we will visit bat caves where you may observe thousands of bats within inches of their roosts, and often pythons and monitor lizards poised to strike by the cave entrance. In the afternoon, we drive to Bwindi National Park. Overnight Gorilla forest Camp/Buhoma homestead/Kitandara Camp.

 

Days 10. Bwindi National Park (Gorilla Trekking)
After an early breakfast we take a short drive or walk to the park offices for briefing about our days activities. After a briefing from the park’s guides, we set out on our long anticipated adventure. The trail through the tropical rainforest is both challenging and exciting, as we walk deep into this dense jungle, alluded to by early explorers as “The Impenetrable Forest”. Overnight Gorilla forest Camp/Buhoma homestead/Kitandara Camp.

 

Day 11. Bwindi/Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, we drive to Lake Mburo National Park through the renowned Kigezi hills arguably known as the Switzerland of Uganda. The drive passes through local markets to the Ankole land where we may see the Ankole cattle with their outstanding horns so beautifully pronounced. Overnight Mihingo Lodge/Mantana Camp.

 

Day 12. Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, we take a game drive to the acacia savannah. The game likely to be encountered includes the Burshell’s Zebra, Topi, Impala, buffalo’s, and the beautiful Eland. Afternoon at leisure or take a boat ride on Lake Mburo or take a guided nature walk .Overnight Mihingo Lodge/Mantana Camp.

 

Day 13. Return to Entebbe/Departure
After breakfast, checkout and drive to Entebbe with a stop over at the equator line and mpambire traditional drum makers. In Kampala have lunch and visit, craft shops/fruit market then drive to Entebbe. overnight The Windsor Lake Victoria Hotel.

 

Day 14. Departure day
Transfer to airport for flight connections.
